We chose the broken pier at Siesta Key Beach as our location for filming. The beach feeling was key to this type of film. Our storyline was seet on the beach because we want a more of a sweet side to the "horror' film. It is a dark side to the film with the girls going missing but yet its a nice, relaxing area to film in. The background noises of the waves crashing will bring that dramatic effect to the scenes. Also, we are hoping to get a siesta key patrol car to show up so they can see that there is a real statement being made to the police at the scene of the "crime". We also want to get an ice cream cone in slow motion hitting the light, soft sand. This beach is perfect for our film.

Script Boy: "so hows school going" Girl: "its good.." Boy: "classes?" Girl: "good..." Boy: "boys?" I chose 'It Follows'  a movie reference because this movie is a thriller/horror and it is a great motivation for a film. this movie is about a thing that no one else can see but the person who got it, the objective of that thing is to kill that person that can see it. The thing follows you but very slow, it only walks. So the farther you go away from it, the longer it takes to get there, but the only way to get rid of it is to sleep with another person. the whole background of the story is complex but very captivating. I am hoping to capture that image that this film did because it was very suspenseful and the drama was there. The fact that it was life or death to get away from it was entertaining, definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and i would love to interpret that feeling into my film. I believe that other than the fact that ours is only two minutes, I want the audience to want to watch the rest of it.

The conjuring is by far one of my favorite series for horror! A great movie to watch over and over because the plot of the story is understandable and has meaning. I loved the authenticity of the scenes, It felt so real and I want to use that same feeling in the short film. You felt sympathy for the characters and during our film we wanted to have the viewer feel for the character when he lost his sister. The actors in the movie were also great, because the reactions and how scared they were showed a lot and it effects the viewer. The slow motion of the woman in the basement towards the end of the movie mad it more frightening because there was so much anticipation and waiting for something scary to happen. In my film I use the same slow motion head turn because when the girl is going to the water the camera gets a slow moving action shot panning from the side of her to the front of her face. There are many horror films to watch and get references from but not many showed a lot of similar characters, editing or plots and theme. I used Van Helsing as one of my references because there were a lot of great camera shots and editing in the movie. For example, the action in the film was overloaded. The angles and editing for the action shots showed a lot more character to the film. When the vampire and werewolf were fighting the CGI was incredible. Wanting to have alittle  bit of editing like that in our film. We don't need any animated scenes in our film, but the angle and camera shots are great to use. Close ups, over the shoulder, mid shot, wide shot, lower, and pan outs are very helpful for horror films. The filming was great and resolution was clear. Great movie to have watched and learn from.

Another movie that I watched as a reference was Split. A horror movie about a guy that has around 23 different personalities that end up taking over his body. This was a very twisted plot to the story line. Helped the film ideas because in the movie the both have that suspenseful what happens next theme. With all of the different camera shots, angles and editing i believe that these could have that similar tone. This also supported the idea of how we planned to do a dark side of someone. In our film we try to have it where someone is possessed and there body is taken over. In the movie the man is taken over by all of his characters and he goes crazy. We have it where the girl is on the beach and gets controlled by something in the water and follows it. There are similarities in both films with being taken over and the genre-horror/suspense.

I chose the movie IT as one of my references because since we have decided to film a horror/suspenseful film I thought I could get an idea of what angle and camera shots we would be using. During the movie, there was alot of close up shots of the characters reactions. You could see the terrified expressions on there face which gives the realistic feel for the character. In our short film, we wanted to have a sweet moment go to bad. For example, in the beginning of the movie, Bill and Georgie had a brother bonding time while making a paper boat, a special moment that makes the audience "awww" ,but that scene quickly turned bad when Georgie was having fun chasing the boat outside while its pouring and following it down the moving water when all of a sudden the boat falls into the drain in the road. Individually i believe that I would rather  do the the film than the magazine but there are some great ideas for magazines. Everywhere I go there is some type of famous magazine; People, Time, Etc. and the pictures and articles in there are very interesting and I think that it would definitely be easier to get the pages together for the magazine. If I did do the magazine my idea would be either on sports or food because i love to travel for both and I could capture a lot of great things. Such as for sports, I play softball, I'm a student athlete and if I write about how hard it is to do school and sports, I could tell everyone that on the bright side it is fun and exciting. If I did the magazine on food i could write about traveling to Tampa, Orlando, St. Pete ,etc. and do it on sushi or Japense restraunts because i know its very hard to find good sushi so if i did that then I believe it would be more interesting to read.
